Along came Squint, I would say it was by fate, where he became our first Labrador. He already belonged to our close friend, but with his life-changing; Squint had to be re-homed. Considering we were around him since he was a puppy, it was a perfect fit. In July of 2015, Squint was 1.5 years old when he joined our family. Again, by fate it took over a year for him to finally come home – considering it was an ongoing joke between our friends.
And then there was Two! In October of 2018, at 1.5 years old; this age must be our lucky number; Shadow whose profession was a quail hunter decided to put her notice in and decided she would rather be pampered. And so along came our little princesses from another family member.
You know the saying: Unconditional love makes the world go round? Squint and Shadow in just the one year filled our heart so much we decided to let them have their own fur babies. In doing so, we hoped to keep one to have the best of both our loves.
And so, they did! No, it wasn’t twins, and it wasn’t triplets, we were blessed with Decuplets: 10 beautiful Dudley puppies; all in the year of 2019! We have 6 boys and 4 girls, unfortunately one puppy did not make it, but we were able to honor our newest additions by naming them all! We just couldn’t resist! Sunshine, Stella, Sophie, and Sugar from our Bunch of girls. Skipper, Simon, Skip, Sailor, Sawyer, and Sunny, from our lot of boys.
The next 8 weeks were filled with loads of work, but the unconditional love I received from the puppies kept me going and reverting to the idea that I wanted to keep them all! By this time, I had many people reach out to me for a puppy, so in my heart I knew I couldn’t keep them. I of course wasn’t just going to let anyone have one of my puppies, the selection process included me having to have a connection with this special person or a friend that knew them. We kept one, my dad kept one and of course the others when to amazing homes. To this day all the owners keep in touch, which truly makes our hearts feel good. We did have one brought back after a week due to unforeseen circumstances in the owner’s life and she knew she wouldn’t be able to give him the love and time he deserved. So, as you can imagine… what’s one more! Between my dad and us we had 6 Labradors (my dad already had a chocolate lab, by the name of Snickers) and that is when our life became Labtastic Life
